The
mission
of
Spina
Bifida
Association
of
Connecticut
is to
promote
the
prevention
of
spina
bifida
and to
enhance
the
lives
of all
affected.
The
Corporation is organized exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable
purposes. Such purposes shall include, but not be limited to the
following:
To foster, promote, encourage and stimulate
the care, treatment, education, socialization and vocational development of all
children and adults having the condition known as spina bifida or
myelomeningocele, or having conditions similar to or deriving from such a
condition.
To aid all such persons in obtaining
necessary educational, medical and social services, and to promote their
acceptance by the general public as equal and complete members of the community
recognizing the right of each individual to succeed to their fullest
potential.
To act as a liaison between medical
personnel and those persons in need of training for the competent treatment and
care of person with these conditions.
To promote the public awareness by providing
information and education to its members and to the general public concerning
the care, growth and development of persons with these conditions.
To promote research into the causes,
improved treatment and prevention of these conditions.
To exercise any and all powers, rights and
privileges toward the achievement of the foregoing educational, scientific and
charitable purposes which a corporation under the non-profit corporation law of
Connecticut may exercise and which are not inconsistent with the corporations
qualification as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code or corresponding section of any future tax code.
